Purpose

Assist lead developer and sponsor with the preparation of Nepalese clean energy fund.


Summary

The Clean Energy and Infrastructure Development Bank will be a private sector-managed specialized for-profit financial institution with primary focus on investing in the development of clean energy and clean industry in Nepal. The Bank has been conceived in response to the emerging market opportunities and the realization that lack of long-term debt and equity financing has constrained the development of private sector-led infrastructure in the country. Bank investments will be made in on- and off-grid renewable energy enterprises clean energy-based infrastructure projects, and other infrastructures including communication, transportation and private social infrastructures. Initial capitalization for the Bank is expected to be $7 million.
