Climate Change is not only the greatest environmental threat of the 21st century; it is a major challenge for business. Policies designed to limit greenhouse gas emissions coupled with demands from investors and customers for real evidence of environmental responsibility require managed responses. The purpose of this tool is to help you assess the quality of your Carbon Management - your ability to respond effectively to these challenges.

What does the Tool consist of?

CAMSAT comprises 23 multiple-choice questions in 5 sections, covering the major aspects of carbon management (Assessment and Monitoring of GHG Emissions; Emission Reducing Activities; Carbon Offset Strategies; Communication and Reporting; and Assessment of Carbon Risks and Opportunities). The results of the test will give you an overall score and identify areas that may require further attention. The exercise should take only 30 minutes to complete.

Who is it for?

All companies with an interest in maintaining or strengthening their environmental reputation and/or those whose business that may be affected by policies intended to address climate change. This tool is not a guide for operating within the European Emissions Trading Scheme.

CAMSAT runs on MS Excel

To run it you will need to do the following:

1. Ensure that your excel is enabled to run macros: Go to
   tools/macros/security and set security level to medium.
   
2. Close all other excel files
   
3. Open the file and follow instructions
   

(CAMSAT does not currently work on Mac computers)
