After obtaining his degree in French at the University of the Philippines, Mr. De Jesus worked as a government-accredited freelance tour guide specializing in mountaineering and diving and also moonlighted as a translator and interpreter. In his free time, he did volunteer work for a Manila-based French NGO taking care of street children. He joined UNEP in 1999 as a part-time assistant for the Information Exchange programme while pursuing his degree in professional translation at the Ecole Supérieure d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs. Since November 2001, he has been working with the Capacity Building Programme assisting in the organization and implementation of the training and Institutional Stengthening projects. Outside of his work at UNEP, Mr. De Jesus is continuing his studies of the Japanese language, culture and civilisation at the INALCO.
