Upgrading Ozone Layer Treaty to Assist in Combating Climate Change Key Issue at International Meeting in Egypt

Accelerating the contribution of a treaty to protect the ozone layer towards meeting the climate change challenge will take place at the 21st Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol in the Red Sea resort of Port Ghalib, Egypt, from 4-8 November.

Children's quiz competition

The chidlren's quiz competition organised by UNEP and the Government of Egypt was held on 5 November 2009. Students from Marsa Alam schools were invited to observe the competition. Mostafa Ahmed won the first prize.

Launch of toolkit for defense forces

Six military attachées and other invited delegates attended a military workshop on 7 November in which the toolkit for defense forces 'Ozone Protection and National Security - A military perspective' was launched. Steve Andersen, Madharva Sarma, Zaelke Durwood gave presentations on the importance of ozone layer protection and the defense force.
