The
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations
Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the
World Health Organisation (WHO) have forged a unique partnership
to provide primary school teachers with practical, hands-on and
entertaining curricula material to educate their students about
the protective role of the ozone layer and the causes and consequences
of its depletion.
The OzonAction Education Pack contains an entire teaching and learning
programme, based on basic knowledge, practical skills and participation,
for students to learn about concrete and simple solutions to protect
the ozone layer and safely enjoy the sun.
This
Pack has been developed by UNEPs Division of Technology, Industry
and Economics OzonAction Programme as part of the organisations
mandate as an Implementing
Agency of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the
Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
The Pack is part of its global communication strategy for promoting
compliance with national obligations under that treaty, and it is
linked to UNEPs Tunza Children and Youth Programme and the
International Decade for Education for Sustainable Development.

and media coverage
Below are links to the individual document
files that make up the Education Pack. The files are saved in two
formats:
- "Viewing": lower resolution and generally smaller
sized PDF files suitable for viewing on screen.
- "Printing": high-resolution PDF files that are suitable
for printing, including the guide marks for the printer. Some
of the files are large and may require substantial time to download.
The Partners encourage
organisations to translate and disseminate the Pack into regional
and national languages. UNEP
can provide advice and guidance in this respect, as well as the
desktop publishing files. To understand how the Pack is being used,
the Partners would appreciate learning about any interests to translate
the Pack into other languages (please send an email to ozonaction@unep.fr).
Item 1 below is the main guidance document
for the teachers. Items 2-5 are related teaching aids that are referenced
in the document. Item 6 is the packaging that is used to contain
all of the materials.
Thank you for going through the Education Pack. We hope you found
it interesting and educative. In order for us to evaluate it, we
would be grateful if you would complete the questionnaire below
and send it to OzonAction
Information Clearinghouse or fax it to +33 1 44 37 14 74. For
this we will be happy to reward you with a copy of the Ozzy Ozone
cartoon book II.
