Implementation of the RMP: training of custom officers, ODS inspectorate and NOU staff

Training for customs officers to identify and develop techniques for collecting and reporting consumption of ODS import and ODS-based refrigeration equipment. In July 1998, the Parliament approved the Ozone Depleting Substances Bill of 1997. This Bill, which has been renamed as the ODS Act, includes: a ban on the importation of all equipment, air-conditioners, refrigerators, compressors and units using any Annexes A and B substances; a ban on the import, storage, sale or purchase of any Annexes A and B substances (as of 1st January 2000) and Annex C substances (as of 2031). The Action Plan proposes to make compulsory licensing for technicians who handle controlled substances and CFC-based equipment.
