Business &
Industry Global Dialogue - 2007
The 24th UNEP Consultative Meeting on
Business & Industry took the form of a Global Dialogue
event held in an emerging market economy. Supported by Brazilian
business and the UN Global Compact, UNEP's first "Business
& Industry Global Dialogue" in Brazil was held
in Sao Paulo from 15 - 16 October 2007.
Over 140 business delegates and representatives
from business organizations, industry and financing institutions,
public institutions and non-governmental organizations discussed
new trends, innovations, policy developments and UN-business
partnership opportunities to address climate change, energy
and responsible chemicals management.
Speakers at the 2007 Global Dialogue included
representatives from internationally known institutes such
as the Pew Centre and the World Resources Institute in Washington
DC, the Energy and Resource Centre (TERI) in India, the
Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in
South Africa as well as financial sector institutions such
as London-based Carbon Disclosure Project, the Brazil Stock
Exchange and the Washington-based Global Environment Facility.
