Description / Synopsis

In May 2010 Rethink Communications partnered with the Plastic Pollution Coalition to raise awareness about the ecological impact of single use plastics. We created a giant six pack ring and used it to strangle wildlife statues around Vancouver.

Context

It is estimated that there are over 600 billion metric tonnes of plastic debris floating in the ocean. There are many misconceptions about the benefits of recycling and the use of bioplastic alternatives. Reducing our consumption of reusable plastics is the most viable and effective way of reducing plastic pollution.

Philosophy/Solution

The aim of the campaign was to create a stunt with viral potential to help raise awareness and drive traffic to the Plastic Pollution Coalition website.

Results

The stunt received attention locally as well as online. News of the stunt spread on news sites, social media, and environmental and creative blogs. The stunt was voted Best Outdoor Ad by bestadsontv.com.
