Description / Synopsis

Unclean water is the world’s leading cause of death. Solidarités International and BDDP Unlimited have therefore taken it upon themselves to spread the word about this issue. They have done so through an awareness-raising campaign diffused on TV, in cinemas and on the Internet. The short film was made with water and ink exclusively.

Context

Today, 3.6 million people (including 1.5 million being children under the age of 5) die every year due to diseases borne out of unclean water. Despite these devastating figures, the public is not sufficiently aware of the situation, nor have political leaders demonstrated the drive to tackle it. As a result, the campaign’s aim is to call on viewers to sign a petition that will be personally handed to the French president during the 6th World Water Forum in March 2012.

Philosophy/Solution

To evoke the silent and invisible threat of unclean water, BDDP Unlimited opted for a minimalist approach that is both visually appealing and surprising, using water and ink exclusively.

Results

In the first month, the campaign got approximately 400 press articles, hundreds of blog articles and 2 million Internet views. It was also extremely popular on both Twitter and Facebook.
