Description / Synopsis

With this playful painting, illustrator Nikki Miles is urging us to make a pinky promise to go easy on the meat and its carbon consequences and enjoy some veg instead. “I don’t eat a lot of meat but I’m not strictly a vegetarian either,” says Nikki. “I have tried being a vegetarian in the past but I found it to hard to give up the odd bacon sandwich or roast dinner with beef gravy. I only eat meat around once or twice a week because vegetables are yummy too! Eating more veg and less meat is a simple way to make a big difference to your health and the environment.”

On average, people living in developed countries eat their own weight in meat every year. It’s pumping more CO2 into our atmosphere than anything else on our planet and it’s using up our water supplies like there’s no tomorrow.

Do The Green Thing aims to inspire as many people as possible to live in a less selfish, less consumptive, more imaginative and more sustainable way. Our product is a feed of beautiful, subversive and delightful inspiration made by great creative talent from around the world.

In the seven years since we launched Do The Green Thing, our posters, films, podcasts and products have reached over 21m people in 209 countries/territories around the world. Research conducted by Hall & Partners tells us that we’ve inspired our subscribers to save 2.5 times more CO2 than they otherwise would have.
