Description / Synopsis

Thousands of sacred forests dot the Indian landscape. These are forests associated with a local deity. Revered by local communities for generations, the sacred groves have been preserved on the basis of faith. Home to many rare and endangered plant and animal species, these virgin forests are rich reservoirs of biodiversity. Shot in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra, ‘Forests of Reverence’, is the story of two native communities, who have withstood the forces of the modern world to protect their faith and the forests. Shot in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and New Delhi, the film looks at the interesting pieces of green architecture, both traditional and modern examples.
