Description / Synopsis The main international celebrations of World Environment Day 2007 were held in Norway. They included street rallies, concerts, essay and poster competitions, among other things. The celebrations were backed-up by a series of audio-visual products, websites, posters, TV hosted programs, Our Planet magazine. |
Context World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations raises worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 |
Philosophy/Solution The objective of the campaign was to focus on the challenges facing the Arctic and Antarctic as a result of rapid environmental and climate change, and to involve people all around the world in awareness activities |
Results The campaign was officially launched in June in Norway, but events promoting the topic were undertaken months before World Environment Day.
