Description / Synopsis

The main international celebrations of World Environment Day 2007 were held in Norway. They included street rallies, concerts, essay and poster competitions, among other things. The celebrations were backed-up by a series of audio-visual products, websites, posters, TV hosted programs, Our Planet magazine.

World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations raises worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972

The objective of the campaign was to focus on the challenges facing the Arctic and Antarctic as a result of rapid environmental and climate change, and to involve people all around the world in awareness activities

The campaign was officially launched in June in Norway, but events promoting the topic were undertaken months before World Environment Day. The ongoing campaign received positive feedback from individuals, companies and governments around the world and several testimonies are available on the following website
