Description / Synopsis

The campaign is trying to protect one of the world's most unique ecosystems from deforestation caused by rapidly increasing soya production in the cerrado region of Brazil.

Context

Rapidly increasing soya production is one of the major causes of deforestation in the cerrado region of Brazil. Large areas of natural savannah woodland and forest are being lost to the production of a crop which in many cases is then sold for export to the UK, Europe and Asia.

Philosophy/Solution

The campaign is targeted at the UK's biggest supermarkets and asking them to agree to only buying certified RTRS soya by 2015.

Results

In general, awareness of the issue of the Cerrado and commitments from certain UK supermarkets have increased since the start of the campaign.
