2nd Global Network Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production The 2nd Global Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production was held in Nairobi, Kenya 17-19 October 2011. The Global Network Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner
Production (RECP) is a biannual global event that is organized
under the joint
UNIDO-UNEP Programme on RECP with the dual purpose of discussing
and disseminating emerging trends and new applications in RECP
and building a vibrant community of practice among member RECP
service providers. The Second Global Network Conference on RECP
was organized in coordination with the Global Network on Resource
Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECPnet) established in 2009.
The Conference had 90 participants and was attended by National
Cleaner Production Centers and RECP service providers from more
than 40 developing and transition economies and other associated
knowledge centres located in developed countries. The theme of
the RECP-2011 was: 'Green manufacturing driving low carbon,
resource efficient and clean industrialization in developing and
transition economies' The objective of the conference was to enhance the promotion of green manufacturing in developing and transition economies through the facilitation of North-South and South-South knowledge sharing and cooperation. This conference was designed to focus on lessons learned on what has worked in efforts undertaken in the last 20 years towards cleaner production and green industrialization and ensuring that service providers and Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) have access to appropriate and affordable technology and financing in order to do more and better with less. The conference provided an opportunity for the RECPnet to identify actions on how to work together to achieve green manufacturing. The three days conference was divided in two parts:
