Jan de Wit (Akzo Nobel) It is very applaudable that the workshop agreed that targets should be set for business to achieve. I take issue with the Global Compact being the venue. If indeed the 9 principles of the compact are further devolved into 9 chapters, along the lines of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises [...] then a combination with a strong GRI process would indeed move us very close to an ideal accountability situation.
