The Idea behind the Life Cycle Management Navigator
The training package at hand, namely "The Life Cycle Management Navigator" , is a training package on Life Cycle Management tools. It is the revised version of "The Environmental Management Navigator" and comprises the latest tools and trends. On basis of the Environmental Management Navigator the UNEP collaborating Wuppertal Institute Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) elaborated the LCMN as a response to the need for assistance by the small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in selecting the most suitable Life Cycle Management tools according to their internal organisational and the external market demands.
"The Environmental Management Navigator" was developed by the Eco-efficiency and Sustainable Enterprise Team on behalf of the Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gemeinnuetzige GmbH (InWEnt), and in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). This ancestor-version of the LCM Navigator was effectively used for the "train the trainer" workshop that took place in December 2001 in Bonn, Germany, while the participants further used the material for extended local workshops in Peru and India.
