The ACME project "Applying Cleaner Production to Multilateral Environmental
Agreements (MEAs)" aims at impoving the implementation of MEAs via the
use of the preventive environmental strategy, Cleaner Production. It focuses
on three MEAs that are especially relevant to industry: the Kyoto
Protocol of the UN
Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Basel
Convention of the Control of Transboundary Movements on Hazardous Wastes and
their Disposal and the Stockholm
Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
This training package is intended for anyone concerned with MEAs or CP promotion,
as a tool for creating awareness, enthusiasm and commitment to CP-MEA, and for
delivering practical training on how MEA implementation is enhanced through
Cleaner Production.
It contains useful information, including a background report, training material,
technical documents and web links for further reading.
It has been produced by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with
the support of the Swedish
Agency for International Development (SIDA).
